However I did manage to compete in 2 evening races during the week...
Wednesday Night was the Pactrac Mini Series Triathlon held in Oundle. This was the second one I have done so I had a better idea of the bike course. I had a 45 second faster swim. (I should still find a little bit more)
I headed out onto the bike leg in 11th place. I had a good ride and came into transition (T2) in 3rd place. My first kilometer of the run wasn't great until Ross Kent caught me. Ross is a quick runner. I thought 'I am going to stay with him'. I managed to do this all the way to the turn around point, then, I felt really good, and I decided to drop him.
I have been a bit disappointed with my 'run' for a long time now, so I was really pleased that I managed to do this. It was almost like I felt a switch click in my head, I started to feel really good and comfortable. My run alone was 1& half minutes quicker than the previous time I did it.
Overall I was 2 minutes and 58 seconds quicker then last time finishing 3rd and I was chuffed with my performance. Full Results here...

I am really pleased with these performances but I will still be looking to beat my times at both of these races. It would be good to dip under the hour at Box End, and that's what I'm aiming for!

The very next evening I competed in the second of the TriCrazy sponsored Box End Off Road triathlon series.
There were more people than last time, the word is getting out that this is a good event – and only a tenner!

I knew as soon as I started the swim and then soon into the bike that perhaps racing two days in a row could be a huge mistake, but I was eager to try and retain my title. Boy was it hard! I found I just had no 'drive' to the pedals.
I came out of the swim 2 minutes and 25 seconds behind the race leader in 13th position. I had a lot of catching up to do. Like the swim, I wasn't feeling great on the bike but I cracked on and kept cycling, ended up coming out of T2 and on to the run course in 3rd place. So not a bad bike really!
Like the night before I felt great on the run with my new found something. I battled away and was really pleased that I caught and passed Mathew Wootton (who had a storming bike). Charlie Palmer took me, but I then managed to stay with him until the end - finishing in 3rd - 7 seconds behind Charlie and only 15 seconds behind race winner, Jamie Hawthorne.
It seems that most people's times were faster than last time, including mine. Overall I was 3 minutes and 46 seconds quicker! Can't wait until I'm feeling fresh and have a good race!
