I did my
first Duathlon of the season last Sunday at Ely. It was a 'Monster', although
I didn't do as well as I had hoped it was good to set the benchmark of where I
am at the beginning of the season and to see what I need to improve on (and
there are a load!)
That’s if I want to stop my legs going like jelly!
- need to do more brick sessions
- need to 'up' my speed on the run
- If I'm getting up at 5.30am for a race I need to think if flow boarding until 10.30 the night before is a good idea!
- I had hoped to have taken my tt bike but I had a problem with one of the cranks so I used my road bike. I didn't think I had enough time to transfer my tri bars, Q rings and even a bottle cage. So I really need to be organized a few nights before to know I 'm going to be ready for the race without silly little mistakes like that.
- Still more to list but I don't really want to bore you unnecessarily. but you get the idea!
A short taster of the race.
Also well done to Karl and Keith who I know had hard races the day before so did really well racing on tired legs.(and they beat me :/)
As you will probably know we had snow a few weeks ago, this had a few extra unexpected consequences, one was that the club couldn't go for a ride, instead a Turbo session was planned. Good fun and thanks to Keith's (one shouting at us and the other allowing us to use his space) the session went well, we have done a couple more since then , every one getting harder! As the weather gets better I think its back to the road. But because the Turbo session have been such a success I think it will move to another time
I am signing up for the following race series, looks good.
I have been given a new sponsorship deal from Blue Seventy Now I have got some decisions to make as to whether I take them up!
I have been offered a sweat test by Andy Blow from
Precision Hydration - H2Pro Hydrate Product Guide
At Porsche Human Performance at Silverstone, Should be booked in for Monday evening.
It all about the science!
I have been looking into this, I think this will make the difference. It will be great if I am able to help them out and promote this product.
Oh, I did say in my last post that I would try and find out what the bit of kit I was using for kayak training. Ivan sells them, its a Lawler Slider
