The sun (and the country) has got it's hat on... hip hip hip etc

This year’s Box End Quad was held half way through the London 2012 Olympics. So much inspiration around and such fantastic work done by so many athletes at the games makes you proud!

 Certainly made me work harder!

Early start (of course) sun was out and a good number of competitors for the quad, although some very noticeable absentees yet again, which was a shame. This was the ‘sprint’ distance, my preferred distance. 750m swim 4.4k kayak, 15k off road bike, 5k off road run.
Once 'booosted' I had a good swim and came out 4th.
The next leg was the Kayak, I have been working extra hard on my paddle over the last couple of weeks and managed to stay in contention and took 15 or so minutes off my previous time, last time I was in a plastic 'white water' kayak without steering, so no surprise really!. The bike and run course where different from the previous years so can’t really compare times,
I swim, train and race at Box End Park, I know this bike course well and used my local knowledge (and hard work!) to make my way to the front of the field, I had a 40 seconds or so cushion on Mat going into transition.
It was a bad run, some 5 minutes down on this course; I had no energy at all, I put it down to me not taking on enough energy and getting my nutrition right prior to the run, However I have just had a very timely email from Alex and Mike from Insight nutrition, who I hope to work with, so hope to be able to sort this out in the future. Mat stormed past me followed a bit later by a few more (so that will be me jogging now!) Well done to Mat, Adam, Brendon, Peter, in fact well done to everyone who made the effort to attend.
It is a great event so thanks to the guys from Quadrac Racing and the volunteers who put the event on.
Very pleased with 1st under 23 though.
4th fastest on the swim,
5th fastest on the kayak
1st fastest on the bike
really, really bad on the run ;)

Next stop the World Sprint Championships in Germany in a couple of weeks, should be good!
