Had my porridge with‘secret ingredient’(ok it's banana) and felt really good
for the Wadenhoe Challenge today – a winter quad, which means a run/kayak/bike/run
... 3m/2m/6m/1m / a great event, shame it isn’t getting the support it
deserves. Anyway, we arrived in good
time, it was a little breezy, colder than I bargained for but at least the sun ended
up shining.
I was hoping for a good race
and my first run was good and confident, getting to the kayak transition
first. I knew I was up against some good
kayakers and Mat (who this month was ‘relaying’) was with ‘fresh’ arms overtook
me and beat me to the bike transition
... I was around 1m 40sec behind him and his team mate. I had to work really hard but after 6 laps I
was just 20 secs behind. To keep up, I
decided not to change shoes and run the last mile in my cycle shoes. Sadly, I didn’t catch ‘Breezy’ but felt I had
a good run. Well done guys ... it was a
good race. I want to thank everyone for
all the support you gave me today ... made me feel good – thanks everyone, especially
Mark and Mat! I’m getting there ...
Mark asked my Dad to take some photos today (for a magazine
article) ... after borrowing my uncle Rob's camera ... he took around 1,500 pics!!!
He got a little carried away ...Eeek ... anyway, after taking out the blurred
and overly repetitive pics there are around 180 I will let yo know the link shortly – I hope you like. Tom
